Burning Man has clarified which electric vehicles are allowed in Black Rock City, and many of the scooters and e-motorcycles being heavily advertised on social media are not permitted. Some companies are even marketing vehicles as "perfect for Burning Man" when they won't make it past the Gate.

The Short Version

✅ Allowed:

• Regular bicycles

• Class 1 e-bikes

• Class 2 e-bikes

• Working pedals required

• Motors up to 750W

• Maximum rated speed 20 mph

• Ride at 5 mph inside Black Rock City

Also allowed:

• Onewheels

• Hoverboards

• Small stand-up scooters (no seat, under the specified size/weight limits)

❌ Not Allowed:

• E-motorcycles

• Fat-tire scooters

• Seated electric scooters

• Gas-powered bikes

• Mopeds

• Anything without pedals (unless it's a pre-approved accessibility vehicle)
